PUJ stricture – Pyeloplasty
PUJ(Pelvi-Ureteric Junction) stricture – narrowing or obstruction of the area where the renal pelvis (the expanded part of the kidney) connects to the ureter (the tube that carries urine from the kidney to the bladder). This condition can lead to the backup of urine, causing various urinary symptoms and potentially affecting kidney function.
Symptoms:
- Flank or back pain: Dull or colicky pain on one or both sides of the back, often felt in the flank region.
- Recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs): Infections in the kidneys or urinary tract due to stagnant urine.
- Hematuria: Presence of blood in the urine, which can be visible or detected under a microscope.
- Frequent urination or urgency: The need to urinate more frequently or with a sense of urgency.
- Reduced urine flow or decreased urine output: Difficulty or reduced amount of urine being expelled during urination.
- Hydronephrosis: Swelling or enlargement of the affected kidney due to the backup of urine.
